Can you be corporate AND creative?

Can you be corporate AND creative?

’ve had a very diverse couple of weeks. Some would call them eclectic. Others would describe my schedule as random. I prefer to think of the way I spend my time as full of activities I’m passionate about.

So what have I been doing?

Latest oil painting

‘Peony Symphony’ is the latest oil painting to come off my easel. So many petals, So many intricate folds. But I loved creating it! At 101cm x 101cm, it's now available here.

I’ve joined the board of a bank

Long-time readers will know that I have a background in finance and accounting. So I’m very excited to be working with a great group of directors to steer the direction of this bank. I love the balance of right and left brain work. I’m not going to show you a picture of me with a spreadsheet (!) so here’s the most recent one from my studio instead :)

Thanks to the wallpaper enthusiasts!
I’ve been blown away by the response to my new wallpaper collection in Bunnings. Thanks to everyone for your lovely messages and I can’t wait to see any photos you have when you’ve installed it in your spaces. You can find the full range here.

In other news:
I’m reading: Breaking Twitter by Ben Mezrich. He’s such a great storyteller and the tale of Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter is simply fantastical.

I’m watching: The Brothers Sun on Netflix. Don’t judge it by the not-so-great trailer. Get through the first couple of flight scenes (first 15 minutes) and you have a series that’s so witty, incredibly well written, very funny and brilliantly acted.

You might want to listen to: The Emma Lovell Show. Emma recently chatted to me about curiosity and creativity on her podcast. We talk about everything from the importance of pursuing micro-credentials to the benefits of having a portfolio career.

Until next time, have a creative week!
Valerie
